Psychosexual Therapy and Sexual Wellbeing

Difficulties with sex and pleasure can affect any of us at any time of our lives. They are more common than you might think and we understand that it is often difficult to talk about intimate sexual problems. We aim to provide a warm and welcoming place where we can work with you in a confidential, sensitive and supportive way.

We have a dedicated team of Psychosexual Therapists with special training and experience in supporting people with sexual problems. Our therapists are Accredited Members of the College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists.

We offer short-term counselling and therapy for individuals or couples. To access our service you must be aged 16 or over and registered with a GP and living in the Doncaster area.

Common Problems

Sexual difficulties can affect anyone and are more common than you may think. Below is a list of some of the problems we frequently help. The links will provide you with further useful information.

How do I get seen?

You will need to talk to your GP first to discuss referral to our service. Once your referral is received it will be reviewed by our team. If we believe we can help, you will be placed on a waiting list and offered an initial appointment as soon as possible. We aim to see everyone who is referred to us within 12 weeks of referral.

Most healthcare professionals are comfortable with talking about psychosexual problems and can help you without being referred to our specialist service.

If you are not comfortable with speaking to one GP, you can request to speak to a different one.

Clinics are held at our specialist clinic in Doncaster. We offer face-to-face, telephone and video consultations. We will discuss your preference when we contact you to arrange your appointment.

Is the service confidential?

The service is confidential unless there is risk of serious harm to yourself or others; or court/legal proceedings.

However, as is normal in NHS services, we do keep case notes which are securely stored. Your notes for this service are kept separate from other health service notes. We also keep the health professional, who initially referred you to the clinic, informed of your progress.
